All drivers employed by Chivers Coaches Ltd must be a minimum of 21 years of age in possession of a PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) Licence, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
Induction takes place before employment is agreed, followed by a 3-month period of assessment with a clear enhanced DBS after which full time or part time, depending on our requirement at the time, is offered. Drivers then must be added to the Update Service
Further training is undertaken where necessary along with familiarisation of new vehicles, new routes, or legislative amendments.
Sub-contractors are used where necessary, the selection of these depend on a number of factors as detailed below, however, our sub-contractors are all well established and have been known to us and worked with us for many years.
– Possession of a valid and appropriate Operators Licence & Insurance Policy
– Drivers suitably qualified with the relevant PCV Licence
– Good basic knowledge of the area in question
COMPANY POLICY REGARDING THE USE OF MOBILE PHONES
All drivers are supplied with a company hands free mobile device, mobile communication is necessary in our business, however, calls may only be received or made when urgent information is required and relevant to the route in progress.
